Role Purpose

The VP of Global IT Infrastructure & Operations is responsible for successfully running, improving and, in conjunction with others, transforming all site, datacentre and cloud IT infrastructures, including backend, network and front end technology across a Global secure, regulated estate.

This role is also responsible for the creation of our infrastructure and operations technology vision and roadmap and works in close collaboration with the CIO and other Group Heads of MIS to progress the overall MIS Strategy and the contribution of MIS to the business. #LI-SJ1

Core Role Responsibilities

  • Create a 3-5 year Strategy for the Infrastructure & Operations function that clearly sets out the technologies to be adopted over this time
  • In conjunction with the PMO, develop a high level plan to deliver on the Strategy that dovetails into other scheduled work;
  • Lead a Global team of approx. 40 FTEs spread across multiple sites, predominately in the UK & US, to deliver an reliable and cost effective service to the Group;
  • Build a highly performing team that regularly evaluates the skills and performance of team members ensuring each team member is assigned to the most appropriate role for their skills and capabilities
  • Build a successful and reliable ecosystem of partner companies to supplement the capacity and capability of the internal team across all major geographies;
  • Lead the successful operation of Infrastructure & IT Operations across approx. 90 Meggitt Global locations including approx. 40 Manufacturing sites, 30 Branch offices, 2 Head Offices, 2 Data Centres and 4 Managed Service locations as well as several Cloud based services (O365, SalesForce, HRISon, S/4 HANA etc);
  • Minimise unplanned outages & unscheduled downtime
  • Manage the continuous improvement of the estate by creating & delivering on a 3-5 year site remediation rolling programme;
  • Lead the creation and adoption of appropriate processes, procedures, positions & tools to effectively monitor and manage all software and hardware assets and configuration across the estate.
  • Lead the creation and adoption of appropriate policies, processes, procedures, standards & guidelines to ensure and compliance.


Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • Proven ability to run an Infrastructure & Operations environment successfully; with the ability to improve and lead.
  • Depth of experience in a similar role; ideally with a global perspective;
  • Experience of delivering on major Infrastructure & Operations Projects successfully;
  • Experience of piloting and adopting innovative technologies to improve/transform Meggitt landscape;
  • Strong people management experience across multiple cultures & locations;
  • Works collaboratively and effectively with a wide variety of people;
  • Organised and able to plan effectively;
  • Manages multiple competing demands on time;
  • Drives results & is motivated to improve;
  • Customer focused and is driven to achieve business relevant outcomes;
  • Good commercial common sense and has experience working in & for globally diverse and federated businesses;
  • Strong grasp of Security Standards (ISO 27001/2; NIST 800-53/171; DFARS 7012; CyberEssentials etc);
  • Experience working in regulated business; ideally with exposure to the international A&D sector.
