Job Details

Greater Manchester Police is one of the UK's largest police forces and is responsible for keeping people safe across more than 1,200 sq km. The Force covers the Manchester, Salford, Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Rochdale, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford and Wigan areas. GMPs officers and staff work 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to keep almost three million people safe. The Force has 11 geographical policing areas known as Divisions that ensure it provides the best possible service to people who live, work and visit Greater Manchester.

Information is the lifeblood of policing and goes hand in hand with the technology GMP uses to correctly record, retain, disclose, share and ultimately safely dispose of that most valuable of commodities. Information Services is the home of GMP's experts in terms of both the safe handling of information and of the information technology framework used to achieve that. Without accurate, relevant information even the best systems in the world would prove to be ineffective, but equally without effective, robust systems even the most relevant information would be lost.

The role is to facilitate the processing of personal information held by GMP in relation to Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS - formerly CRB) applications. The requirement is to search all relevant IT systems to locate information, analyse information and make a decision on disclosure in accordance with the current protocol, submitting comprehensive reports on relevant findings.

As a candidate you will have experience of analysis of data and resolving queries, and be capable of producing written work to the required standard. You will be competent in the use of Microsoft Office and the internet. You will communicate clearly in person, on the telephone and in writing. You will remain calm under pressure and be flexible according to work requirements and priorities. You will be capable of working with minimum supervision, using initiative and prioritising daily workloads whilst being part of a team process. Due to the nature of the role the ability to maintain confidentiality of the material that you will be dealing with is vital.

We are committed to ensuring that the diverse make up of our workforce is reflective of the communities we serve. We encourage and welcome applications from all backgrounds and all of our communities. All applications are judged on merit.

Company

Round the clock more than 3,600 police officers and police staff work hard to provide a policing service to the public of Hertfordshire, supported by more than 300 Specials.

Together we look at where we can make the most difference to improving the quality of everyone's lives, and creating a safer Hertfordshire.

In our work we put our communities first - we want to be there when victims need us the most and when criminals don't. But, most importantly, we want people to be safe and feel safe whether they are in their homes, on the streets or at work in our county.
