Project Planner (Fleet Programmes)
Clyde, Faslane
Salary £23,000-£29,000

About the role

At HMNB Clyde, we manage a number of activities on behalf of the MOD and currently we're looking for eight Project Planners to join us. We provide highly specialised engineering support services, including operational maintenance, upgrades and repair to ships and submarines and submarine operator and maintainer training for the Royal Navy's Astute Class submarines.

You will provide a project planning function for routine maintenance and defect repair projects up to a value of £5M and lasting up to 12 months on Nuclear Powered Submarines. These projects have to be delivered to time, cost and quality to maintain fleet operational capability.

As part of a project team, you will also be required to develop and maintain schedules by collecting inputs from various stakeholders to keep the plans in a condition whereby they are current and accurate throughout all stages of the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities include analysing, interpreting and reporting on key performance indicators such as schedule performance, resource forecasts and critical path adherence, and communicating the results to relevant parties using the appropriate tools and methods.

Other responsibilities will be to amend Project Scheduling as per direction from the Project Manager and re baseline the plans following major contract changes and provide look ahead schedules and project reports to key stakeholders.

This is an excellent opportunity to support work packages for multiple vessels worldwide, and be a part of various projects with potential development into a Project Engineer role for the right individual.

What do I need to do the role?

You will have relevant experience gained within a Project Planning or Engineering Environment and are familiar with Microsoft Office applications particularly proficiency in Excel.

You will also be an excellent communicator, show great attention to detail and good problem solving skills as well as being a strong team player who consistently meets customers Time, Cost and Quality requirements.

A Project Management qualification or HNC/HND or SVQ in Engineering would be beneficial.

What else do I need to know?

This role is based at HM Naval Base Clyde, located 6 miles north of Helensburgh in the West of Scotland. We are well placed for commuter links to Glasgow and the wider region, with easy access for car and public transport.

We are happy to talk about flexible working. Please ask about alternative patterns of work at interview.
