About the role

Here at Babcock International we're looking to recruit an E&I (Electrical & Instrumentation) Designer to join our Liquefied Gas Equipment (LGE) Division. We design and supply cargo handling systems for liquefied gas ships across the globe. LGE is an incredibly innovative and diverse business with patented designs working with LPG, LNG, Ethane, Ethylene and new projects with CO2.

Our Head Office is in Rosyth, with most projects mainly in South Korea and China at the biggest shipyards in the world. With a diverse product portfolio in numerous markets, we offer an exciting opportunity to join an ever-growing business with longevity. You will be part of an experienced and supportive team of Designers and you will collaborate with numerous engineering departments.

You will prepare high quality Electrical and Instrumentation CAD drawings, support Control, Instrumentation & Electrical (CI&E) Department drawing deliverables, including but not limited to; electrical block diagrams, single line diagrams, connection diagrams, loop diagrams, panel layout arrangements, hazardous area plans.

You will interpret vendor equipment drawings and specification for detail integration into drawing outputs, create equipment datasheets for parts ordering, develop instrument/cable schedules and alarm and interlock philosophy tables, participate in design reviews and interface with other Engineering disciplines, Project Management and other internal functions to proactively anticipate and mitigate problems/difficulties.

What do I need to do the role?
You'll need to have demonstrable experience working in an equivalent role producing high quality outputs and have a comprehensive working knowledge of equipment such as: electric motors, pressure / temperature / level / flow etc instruments, gauge boards, junction boxes, control panels, starter panels, rotating machinery packages, cables, glands etc.

We would also like you to have the following:
• Demonstrable experience working in an equivalent role producing high quality outputs, on time.
• Familiar with and able to interpret Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
• Proficient in the use of AutoCAD software
