Systems Engineer - Wiltshire

The Systems Engineer is part of the wider 3^rd Line Support Team responsible for providing technical support to the deployed Systems.  The Systems Engineer also provides 3^rd line technical support to the deployed Team of Field Support Engineers who are responsible for maintaining the Systems.

Key Accountabilities:

• Create system upgrade packages and support their deployment to Customer Systems
• Deliver and maintain suitable work Instructions and technical documentation
• Liaise directly with Field Support Team members to ensure the smooth and efficient installation of upgrades to sites across the UK IAW the Change Process
• Work with the Change Team & Servicedesk to facilitate scheduled updates, ensure change processes are followed and that all changes are correctly undertaken and documented
• Provide technical support to the in-house Test and Repair Facility and associated infrastructure necessary to deliver the service
• Work with the Configuration Management team to accurately track hardware and software changes and ensure an audit trail of tasks undertaken
• Undertake technical investigations and other small work packages in response to Problem records, changing Customer requirements or process improvement initiatives
• Undertake technical evaluations of new products or replacement H/W due to obsolescence / product development to ensure form / fit and functionality
• Support the Development / Test environment to ensure all systems are maintained and suitable to support formal Testing / acceptance activities
• Some site visits may be required to support technical investigations / System rebuilds and advanced troubleshooting to field based Teams

Essential Technical Skills:

• Strong background in Windows based Operating Systems (Windows XP, Windows 2010, Server 2013), SQL and McAfee Virus Scan Enterprise
• Basic Knowledge of Networks (Switches, Routers, Cloud services & Firewall rules)
• Natural analytical and problem solving skills are crucial
• ITIL foundation level desirable but not necessary although working knowledge important
• Must be a good communicator with the ability to work largely unsupervised within a matrix based organisation demonstrating a proven track record of overcoming obstacles
• Must have a strong understanding of working within a confidential environment
• UK or EU driving license.
