About the role

Here in Babcock International we are looking for a Senior Java Developer to lead a growing development team based out of our Keynsham site. Within the solutions team, you will deliver collaborative solutions for use by the entire UK defence maritime enterprise, with products including database applications through to big data and analytics. You will be a core member of the development team leading the design and development of software solutions.

Your primary focus will be to ensure customer requirements are understood and solutions delivered are fit for purpose, whilst leading a small Java team. You will be focused on developing Java web based applications where you will be translating requirements, conducting testing and ensuring code reuse and efficiency. You will also be charged with the review of your team's work to ensure application of best practice and local standards.

What do I need to do the role?

You will need to have a proven background as a Senior Java Developer with team leadership experience. You technical experience will include Java, JEE and web based technologies such as Web Services, JSF, HTML and Javascript. Demonstrable knowledge of the whole development lifecycle is essential.

What else do I need to know about the role?

  • You will work a 36 hour week Monday-Friday with flexible start and finish times
  • All applicants must have or be able to obtain SC security clearance
  • Keynsham train station is a 15-20 minute walk away
