About the role

Here at Babcock International we're looking to recruit an IT Technical Team Leader to supervise and assist IT Technicians in delivering the Astute Class Training Service (ACTS) Information Systems (IS) services and projects in accordance with Astute Training Facility (ATF) /IS procedures and relevant Security policies.

As an IT Technical Team Leader within our Marine Training business you'll be supporting us as we deliver world-class training both UK and Internationally. With over 800,000 training days delivered so far we equip people to operate and support the most complex marine platforms, logistics and equipment - using our collaborative, customer centric approach.

Babcock operates a significant outsourced contract for the provision of education and training services to the Royal Navy. The training services comprise of Naval technical and tactical training and education, delivered by Babcock trainers as well as training support. The contract is entering an exciting new phase with renewed focus on training innovation, optimisation and collaborative working and this role will provide the support and drive to achieve successful deliver of all aspects of the contract in this new phase.

What do I need to do the role?

  • Previous experience of successful delivery projects and change
  • Experience in supervising (and developing) a team
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2003, 2008, 2012
  • Exchange Server 2003 and above
  • Advanced Knowledge of MOSS 2013, Microsoft Project Server
  • Infrastructure services including Dynamic Client Host Protocol (DHCP), Domain Naming Service (DNS)
  • Network Administration. Transmission Control Protocol (TCP)/Internet Protocol (IP) routing and switching
  • A strong understanding of IS security and related policies
  • Microsoft SharePoint, site development and administration
  • Microsoft Project Server
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft applications (Excel/Access)
  • Defence sector experience
  • Commercial awareness
  • MCP in relevant subject matter desirable
