About the role
Here at Babcock International we're looking to recruit a Service Software Technician to join the team.
You will undertake the tasks of the IT support team at Site 5, in accordance with the requirements of the IT Service Management Support Service (ITSMIS) section of the Engineering Services (ES) Agreement, maintaining and supporting all non-desktop Authority systems to 2nd and 3rd line levels.

You will actively participate in the work of the team, and working alongside all other site functions and remote IT teams, to ensure proactive service delivery, reactive incident handling and monitoring, robust maintenance of security logs and support to auditing processes

Provision of 2nd level (and some 3rd line) support for audio and other systems, cluster and routing servers, SQL databases, all Windows applications and support and/or management of system installations and upgrades, software patching, and system rebuilds as required

Contribution to the preparation of Management Information and associated reports in accordance with the requirements of the ES Agreement and you will drive Continuous Improvements through the implementation of ISO 90001:2015.

What do I need to do the role?
It is desirable that you will hold a HNC qualification, or equivalent and have a sound knowledge of systems/infrastructure installation practices.

Would also like you to have experience in all or some of these areas:

  • Thorough knowledge of MS Windows 2008 R2 to Domain Administrative level
  • Thorough knowledge of MS SQL to Database System Administrative level
  • Proven experience of use of Incident Reporting Systems
  • Demonstrable experience of acting at System Administrator level
  • A working knowledge of Redhat Enterprise / Centos 7
  • Thorough knowledge of Solaris 10 at Systems Administration level

What else do I need to know?
  • All applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK and be subject to satisfactory security clearance which includes 3 years reference checks. Verification of any qualifications/passport/licences must be shown at interview stage.
  • Participation in the 24/7 on-call rota for incident responses to system faults
