- Develop Commodity Strategy which supports the direction of the business, therefore working cross functionally within the organization to ensure product and technology roadmaps are considered as well as the volume forecast provided by Strategic Planning. Negotiate with providers according to specific policies. Achieve the best contractual conditions while ensuring internal customer satisfaction. Comprehensive in-depth understanding of purchasing concepts to help drive supplier performance.
- Known internally to GE as a Lead Commodity Management Specialist, responsibilities for this role will be as follows;
- Develop and implement strategies to create an efficient supply chain and reduce commodity purchase costs
- Using supplier segmentation define supplier relationship strategy, manage that relationship through program lifecycle
- Lead cross functional strategic business reviews including performance reviews
- Work along side NPI team to ensure supplier selection for new programs is aligned to defined strategy
- Determine the requirement for dual sourcing and develop best cost country opportunities
- Lead negotiations with suppliers to deliver long term agreements
- Document negotiations and contract awards in line with company and regulatory requirements
- Includes commercial sourcing management such as data analysis, negotiations support, etc. This may also include purchasing activities
- Negotiate the best commercial and technical package for procurement requirements
- Lead Cost reduction activities with suppliers
- Support critical or systemic supplier performance recovery
- Work to minimize supplier risk by establishing strategies for risk evaluation
- Research potential vendors and compare their products, prices, and services
- Conduct analyses of market conditions and trends and use this information to predict future supply needs.
- Communicate strategy and commodity updates cross functionally across organization
- Degree from an accredited university or college or similar level of knowledge and experience with proven experience in Sourcing
