Who we’re looking for

We need someone able to take their experience of account management and relationship development and use it, through effective leadership of a team, to give our partner police forces and the Police Now participants that work in them an outstanding experience and the ability to have a positive impact on the frontline. You’ll be a great relationship builder, able to have both easy and difficult conversations effectively, with resilience, energy, optimism, adaptability and a desire to work in a fast-moving, evolving, innovative start-up. You must possess a genuine commitment to public service and the Police Now mission and values plus as a belief in personal responsibility. As a real team player, you’ll enjoy working with colleagues inside Police Now as much as you do with police forces across the country, and always with the best interests of our participants and partner forces at the forefront of your mind.

What you need

  • A genuine commitment to and connection with Police Now’s mission and values
  • Strong commercial acumen and substantial experience of managing multiple accounts and creating strong, lasting partnerships within a complex sector or industry, ideally one that has recently experienced significant change
  • Experience of leading and motivating a team and collaborating with similar teams to deliver fantastic results
  • Experience of working with a geographically dispersed team
  • The ability to see the strategic picture and to communicate this to colleagues, prioritise activities and escalate opportunities and risks accordingly
  • The ability to work flexibly and quickly in what can be an ambiguous and fast-moving environment
  • Exceptional, proactive relationship building skills
  • Excellent organisation, time and project management skills
  • Outstanding attention to detail, including the ability to write accurately and persuasively
  • Willingness to travel within England and Wales, to work occasional evenings and have some overnight stays as required
  • A strong understanding of UK policing may be an advantage

What you’ll get from us

  • The opportunity to work at a true start-up and to help shape the Police Now programme
  • Be part of a society-defining organisation, make a difference and change the way that the most challenged communities in the country interact with the police
  • A great team passionately working to build the next generation of leaders inside and outside policing
  • A bright, airy, modern and buzzing office in Moorgate, Central London
  • Competitive salary of approximately £50,000 dependent on experience
  • Police Now’s core benefits package includes 27 days holiday each year and participation in a pension scheme (with employer contributions) plus further benefits currently in development

Location: Based in the north or midlands areas of the UK with frequent UK travel and one day a week in London.

Please note

Applications will be screened as they are received and invited to interview accordingly.  Police Now reserve the right to close the advert prior to the closing date, should a suitable applicant be appointed.  Early applications are therefore encouraged.

Company

Police Now currently works with 31 of the 43 Home Office police forces spread across the length and breadth of England and Wales. We co-deliver our programmes with our partner forces where Police Now participants work, so police forces play a central role in the achievement of our charitable mission.

Police Now’s mission is to transform communities, reduce crime and anti-social behaviour, and increase the public’s confidence in the police by recruiting, developing, and inspiring outstanding and diverse leaders in policing. We are working towards a day when every community, whatever the socio-economic background of its residents, can thrive without being fearful of crime. We are looking for high-performing, committed, mission-aligned individuals who will actively contribute towards this goal.

It is important that Police Now’s workforce reflects the communities that we serve and are empowered to contribute their best. We are an equal opportunities employer committed to diversity and inclusion in policing and our Head Office, and view workforce diversity as a business imperative. We strongly encourage applicants from all backgrounds and walks of life.

Police Now trains graduates and career changers with leadership potential to become inspirational police officers and outstanding crime fighters on our National Graduate Leadership Programme and our National Detective Programme. Our officers are supported for life so they can confidently progress through policing ranks as innovative leaders. We are a not-for-profit organisation of ~120 employees, with ambitious goals; we need impact and solutions-focused individuals who will accelerate us towards our mission.
