The Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC) is a specialist armed police service dedicated to protecting the civil nuclear industry. We play a vital role in national security, working with local forces, nuclear regulators and counter-terrorism teams in protecting the UK. We’re looking for experienced ARV Officers, Authorised Firearms Officers and serving Police Officers to transfer to the CNC to be a part of delivering our mission. It’s an opportunity to push your policing career further and become one of the country’s most exceptional firearms professionals.

When you join, you’ll immediately start on our residential conversion course. This unique programme will broaden your existing skills and knowledge and prepare you for the CNC AFO role. Here, our exceptional team of specialists will support you in achieving and maintaining the required standards and fitness levels. The course is three weeks for qualified AFOs and ARVs (dependent on current qualifications), and 11 weeks for those without firearms experience.

All CNC Officers are required to maintain high standards of fitness and competence. This includes being able to achieve level 7.6 in the MSFT, meeting our medical standards and displaying full competence of the Policing Professional Framework for the rank of Police Constable.

If you are up-to-date in all NPFTC modules contained within the ARV role profile, qualified as an AFO or are a serving Police Officer with the drive to qualify as an AFO, you can learn even more throughout our first-class training and become exceptional. It’s a great chance to enhance your policing career and achieve excellence.

Join CNC and make your career exceptional. Click the apply button for further information and apply against our Police Officer Recruitment – Serving Officer campaign.

Please note, your annual leave and salary will be calculated based on length of service.

CNC has a strong commitment to equality and diversity both within the organisation and in the service we provide to our communities. We want to reflect the communities we serve.
