Division

Our Services & Support division provides a range of distribution and MRO services to our aerospace aftermarket customers. The division is organized into three regions: Americas, Asia Pacific and Europe, Middle East and Asia (EMEA).
As a division, we are committed to delivering superb service through the aerospace product lifecycle and, ultimately, helping our airline customers run their operations as cost-effectively as possible.
To achieve this and maximise group revenue across the cycle, Services & Support remains fully integrated with Meggitt's original equipment businesses ready to provide field performance data to help their engineering functions boost Meggitt's product lines with upgrades and next generation products.

Role Summary

Reporting to the Director of Product and Services Development, the positions will be based in each of the S&S main hubs. The key purpose of the Manufacturing Engineer & Cost down Engineer is to ensure that all manufacturing engineering activities are handled professionally and completed effectively in accordance with business process and protocols.
The key initiative of this role will be identifying and delivering solutions for material cost down activities to control/reduce cost within MRO hubs (repair or replace). The individual will work with the wider S&S team driving SMART Support to develop cost down activities to support the business initiative.
The Manufacture & Cost down Engineer will be accountable for key for implementing lean manufacturing techniques within the aligned module to ensure improvements on Quality, Cost & Delivery within the operational areas. They will work closely with the local operation leads and take.

Core Responsibilities

  • The objective of this role is to be able to identify and implement cost down efforts within an aerospace MRO facility.
  • Good interpersonal skills, skilled at forming teams to deliver a result for example across the OE businesses to drive change to deliver cost down.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize duties with minimal supervision, in order to meet deadlines
  • Ability to make oral presentations, to gather data, to compile information, and prepare reports
  • Strong written communication and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and web-browsers
  • Ability to ensure a high level of service and quality is maintained
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and ability to multi-task
  • Analytical and research Skills to identify opportunities
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices, procedures and standards policy and procedure development techniques
  • The ability to forge customer relationships to support change requirements on technical change.
  • Proficient in Project Management tools (i.e., MS Project) or similar project tool(s).


Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Technical
  • Asses repair process and identify ways to value stream process.
  • General understanding of, or "hands on" component repair experience.
  • Strong ability to read and understand:
    • Manufacturing drawings
    • Cmponent Maintenance Manuals
    • Repair Schemes
  • Develop and produce repair schemes.
  • General understanding of Aerospace related Standards/Specifications, such as AMS, AS, and MIL.
  • Ability to conduct component and piece part inspections.
  • Knowledge of coatings and surface treatments.
  • General machining knowledge.
  • General understating of component design principles.

Regulatory
  • General knowledge European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations.
  • General understanding of Aerospace regulatory approvals (Part 21, Part 145).
  • General knowledge of regulatory EASA/CAA/FAA Alternative Methods of Compliance (AMOC).
  • General understanding of EASA Part 145 Maintenance Organization Exposition (MOE).
