AWE are currently recruiting for a Electrical Safety Engineer.

Within this role you will be dealing with major production facilities, site infrastructure and buildings scientific and research capabilities. You will require an in-depth knowledge of Electrical Safety regulations and standards and be capable of their intelligent application to a diverse range of buildings and processes, including the management of ageing plant and equipment through to the latest emerging technologies. This role will provide you with the opportunity to use your technical knowledge and experience to the full and develop skills.

Location - Reading area

Package - £42,000 - £62,000 subject to skills and experience

You will be required to:

  • Providing advice, information and expertise about policy, best practice and engineering knowledge in Electrical Safety.
  • Support the implementation of Electrical Safety improvements.
  • Advise on the company policy and procedures to support Electrical Safety throughout the company.
  • Support the Senior Electrical Authority to maintain competent persons responsible for application of the Electrical Safety code across the company.
  • Undertake Investigations on electrical issues and make recommendations for improvement
  • Monitor the performance of compliance with electrical legislation and standards, including competence, configuration and work control.
  • Communicate electrical alerts to all relevant parties across site and other licenced operators to share learning.
  • Conduct reviews on the health of the Electrical management systems being used.
  • Build and maintain communications with similar companies to enable best practice to be shared.
  • Shape the future to inspire trust, build effective relationships to clarify purpose, energise the team to deliver results and be a model for personal excellence, integrity and accountability

To be successful in this role you should have the following skills:

  • Suitable candidate will have extensive experience of Electrical Safety from design through to decommissioning.
  • Extensive knowledge of IET Wiring regulations, Electricity at Works Regulations, Electrical Safety of machines and Electrical Safety of Controls & Instrumentation.
  • Working is a safety role within in a large complex production or manufacturing organisation preferably within a highly regulated industry.
  • Previous experience in the development, implementation and application of Electrical Safety policy would be advantageous.
  • Membership of an appropriate professional institute preferably at Chartered Engineer level but as a minimum at Incorporated Engineer. Engineering Safety qualification such as NEBOSH.
