Role Summary/Purpose:
    Working as part of a multi-disciplined team, you will lead the architecture definition and hardware design for the next generation of power controllers, pivotal to the business's future success. The candidate will primarily be responsible for digital hardware designs. A working knowledge of systems engineering, software or PC software development would be advantageous. You will need to embrace a range of technologies, including multicore processors, cyber security and networks.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Create a cost effective re-usable hardware architecture for our power controller family of products
  • Develop a route to aircraft certification of products using multicore processors through appropriate design, processor selection, testing and analysis together with working with our safety and certification teams.
  • Formulate novel solutions to problems quickly and efficiently whilst documenting technical data consistent with engineering policies and procedures
  • Provide technical leadership in area of expertise for other team members and participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Relevant Degree from an accredited university or college or equivalent level of knowledge or experience
  • Significant experience of designing and implementing digital hardware in safety critical applications.
  • Hands on experience with multicore processors and accessing their performance and commissioning hardware designs centred around embedded processors
  • Knowledge and experience of standard communications protocols and Ethernet applications
  • Demonstrable experience in the use of PCB CAD and circuit simulation tools
  • Able to think outside the box to create new and innovative solutions and the ability to clearly formulate and communicate complex design concepts
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Desired Characteristics:
  • FPGA development skills in a safety critical environment
  • Experience of Agile and Scrum methodologies
  • Experience in designing for aviation or other safety critical applications
  • Authentication and cyber security
  • Familiarity with Mentor Graphics Expedition ECAD tools
  • A positive attitude, initiative, pro-activeness and an enthusiasm and passion for product development.
  • Demonstrable success in achieving and exceeding internal customer milestones.
  • Experience of coaching and mentoring junior engineers
