Department Overview
Within Performance & Strategy you will be working with people who are passionate about enabling Technology to perform at its best. A diverse division made up of multiple specialist teams, we focus on providing the strategy, governance and subject matter expertise to support the day-to-day running, and long-term direction for the function.

You'll help to shape the growing role that technology plays within the organisation. Collaborating closely with colleagues across Technology and throughout the Bank, you'll help the division deliver against its commitments and contribute to the organisation's mission.

We target best-practice and our teams work closely with counterparts from central functions to ensure we share expertise, learn from our colleagues and strive for continual improvement and innovation. You'll also be encouraged to develop your expertise externally, through networking, training and formal qualifications.

Technology's administration structure consists of:
  • One PA supporting the Chief Information Officer
  • Three PAs, each supporting Heads of Departments; one of which coordinates divisional-wide administration needs
  • Three Divisional PAs who work flexibly across the Divisions
  • The entire team work closely together, self-cover and assist each other to enable the smooth running of the divisions.
  • This is a diverse and challenging role, offering excellent development potential, the opportunity to get an insight into the work of the Division and to play a part in assisting staff across the directorate carry out our key functions.
Job description
What does this job involve?

The main responsibilities of this role are completing general and ad-hoc administration duties, which will usually follow defined processes and procedures, including but not limited to:

  • Managing complex diaries, using judgement on which meetings take priority and ensuring diaries are maintained smoothly and effectively to optimise managers' time
  • Planning internal and external meetings; preparing and circulating papers and recording actions
  • Assisting in the planning of internal and external events
  • Assisting in the production of documents and presentations
  • Booking in and escorting visitors around the Bank
  • Undertaking special assignments, projects, research and other ad-hoc administration as required
  • Handlingdetailed and confidential information
  • Ensuring that communal devices e.g. printers, shredders etc. in the relevant areas are always in full working order and calls are raised in a timely manner when issues are known
  • Ensuring that the stationery requirements are met across the directorate
  • Co-ordinating the security clearance process for consultants/other visitors as necessary
  • Processing JML tickets relating to the on-boarding process in a timely manner
  • Agreeing and carrying out core and stretch/challenge objectives to the required standard
  • Showing initiative in response to administrative requirements
  • Accountable for working effectively with other administrative staff across Technology, covering in the absence of colleagues and proactively providing administrative support as required
  • Having a good understanding of the work of Technology and how it supports the Bank of England
