Thermal Analysis Engineer

My client is a world-leading provider of commercial, military, and business and general aviation jet and turboprop engines and components as well as avionics, electrical power, and mechanical systems for aircraft.

We are currently looking for a contract Thermal Analysis Engineer to join our client at their site in Cheltenham.

It is desirable that you have experience with Siemens NX and previous experience in an aerospace development environment and/ or an industrial environment (e.g. power stations / marine).

Key Activities

Produce representative and computationally efficient analytical models capturing the main heat transfer phenomena of a given design
Present results, associated assumptions and propose design changes to improve the thermal performance of a design
Support de-risking activities such as prototype testing, model correlation and trade studies to develop a design concept
Influence the planning and setup of thermal tests with aims of producing quality data for future use
Liaise with the electrical and mechanical design teams to obtain all necessary inputs and provide thermal guidance

Qualifications / Experience

A degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar subject, or equivalent relevant experience.
Proficient in the use of FloTHERM thermal analysis software, or similar tool.
Experience in the thermal design of electronic equipment.
Competent in the use of MS Office suite of software.
Ability to work well within a team environment.
Ability to own tasks, show initiative and work with minimal supervision.
Good problem solving and solution building skills.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Fully conversant with relevant drawing standards.
