THE OPPORTUNITY

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

  • Direct 3rd level fault resolution on LAN Elements to sectors, sites and the Service Area cells
  • Day­ to ­day operation of local and remote network sites routing, switching, and wireless infrastructure including some tasks that require installation and solve of physical layer.
  • Advises on fault diagnosis throughout NATO sites utilizing a number of management platforms (e.g. HP Network Automation, InterMapper, Splunk).
  • Ensure that, on LAN elements, remote routine maintenance throughout NATO sites is performed.
  • Build SRTS and use CAST application to record data.
  • Coordinate with sites to implement LAN elements centralization, standardization and standard methodologies.
  • Liaise and collaborate intern ally throughout the NCI Agency Service Line infrastructures and to external organizations for fault rectification activities.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures within the LAN Cell.
  • Performing operation and maintenance activities for current NATO operations (e.g. KFOR, OAE, and RS).
  • Operate provided management toolsets and capabilities.
  • Ensure a common understanding of the available toolsets and method of utilisation within the centralised and distributed user base.
  • Investigating and proposing long term solutions to encountered equipment and configuration problems.
  • Create and maintain network diagrams using various tools and applications such as Microsoft Visio.
  • Be accountable for the hardware and software part of network equipment like switches, routers, servers, network analysis devices (e.g. Fluke).
  • When required, coordinate on­site surveys, validations and system acceptance testing into the Local Area Network and Wider CIS infrastructure.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • You possess a degree or equivalent work experience in related field from an accredited college.
  • Extensive and progressive expertise in the duties related to the function of the post
  • Prior experience of working in an international environment comprising both military and civilian elements.
  • Knowledge of NATO responsibilities, structure and organization, including ACO and ACT.
  • Experience in all aspects of maintenance, repair and operation of large complex multivendor IP communications networks and related equipment.
  • Experience with Windows Server 2012 and Linux operating systems.
  • Experience with STP, VLAN, FHRP, port-security, TACACS, SNMP, ACL, QoS, IGMP, PIM, VRF, IPV6 network technologies and concepts.
  • Understanding of Firewall and Intrusion Detection System Technologies and Concepts.
  • Knowledge of Data Centre and virtualization technologies such as VMWare, Nexus devices, VSS, vPC, MEC, etc.
  • Knowledge of shell scripting such as Bash, Powershell.
  • Knowledge of the principles of command and control systems.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring tools (e.g. HP Network Automation, InterMapper, Splunk, CA Spectrum).
  • General understanding of MPLS, Video, Voice and Wireless technologies and concepts.
  • Familiarity with any ticketing system regarding networking issues.
  • You have the ability to obtain a NATO Cosmic Top Secret Clearance.

It will be considered an asset if you hold the following certifications:

  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundation or Higher.

  • CCNP: Cisco Certified Network Professional
  • CCDP: Cisco Certified Design Professional
  • VMWare certification
  • A+ Certification
  • Any other IT industry network certifications
