Brief overview of Project/Task/Role:   

The System Engineer (SE) will be responsible for the development, fielding and sustainment of a range of equipment and systems used in the joint Land Environment.

Our Systems Engineers work closely with project managers and to plan and deliver all the technical/engineering activities required to meet project objectives. You will be responsible for devising and delivering the technical solution, addressing enterprise & lifecycle considerations.

The SE will fulfil a broad and varied role supporting the Authority in the concept phase of a major military communications delivery programme.  Taking responsibility for the development and production of technical deliverables, the individual will use information they gather from appropriate sources and combine it with their working knowledge of military communications systems to develop well-documented commentary and technical recommendations. Their deliverables will align with current working principles and practices and meet the project’s process, quality and schedule requirements.

The SE will proactively engage with the customer to devise plans, review progress, monitor delivery of the resultant system, and any subsequent support activities. They will look to the SE as the focal point of contact for the project on all technical/engineering aspects and assurance.

Work will include initiating and leading technical engagement with stakeholders and related projects, tracking and incorporating their developments, identification and analysis of existing technical publications and the interpretation and translation of user-requirements into deliverable system-requirements. The SE will be required to prioritise their work effectively and be able to operate both independently and as part of team; The sharing of findings, contribution to the peer-review process and collaboration with other team members on common lines of development will be key to the project delivering a coherent suite of options that meet the user’s needs and are capable of being taken forward to the next stage of the programme.
