About the role
Babcock DST is currently delivering contracts for the design and manufacture of submarine equipment for the Royal Navy and overseas Navies in Spain, Korea and Australia. This equipment includes Weapon Handling and Launch Systems, Submerged Signal Ejectors, Countermeasure Launch Systems and Communication Buoy Systems.
Main Tasks:
You will be responsible for delivering design and manufacture work packages to time, cost and quality requirements. To do this you will lead a small integrated project team to ensure these deliverables are met, depending on work package you will report into either a Senior Project Manager or Programme Manager. It is key to maintain strong collaborative working relationships with all stakeholders, and you will also need to be capable of producing project reports, managing project budgets and resources. This is a full lifecycle project management role, so being able to develop clear scope from project requirements and seeing that through to Customer delivery is key, along side identifying, managing and mitigating any risks.
What do I need to do the role?
Required Experience and Qualifications
The successful candidate:
  • Ideally has the APM Practitioner Qualification (PQ) or APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) [formerly known as APMP], we will consider other Project Methodologies as well
  • Has good knowledge of project tools and techniques including Microsoft Project (MS), Risk Management tools, ERP Systems and financial and resource planning tools
  • Is competent in MS Office
  • Has a bachelor's degree in engineering / project / construction management or a related field, or demonstrable full lifecycle project management experience in a related Industry

  • A strong team player and effective communicator who is keen to drive achievement of milestones and can encourage and challenge engineering, supply chain and production teams towards success.
  • Process oriented with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Bristol is a vibrant city in south west England with a wide range of attractions, landmarks, events and shopping. It has excellent transport links and is only 1.5 hours from London by train.
Successful candidates will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements and may be required to complete a medical assessment.
