Modis are delighted to be recruiting for an experienced Head of IT in the Automotive sector to provide overall responsibility of the IT Department. The successful candidate will play a major role in all strategic and operational development of the IT department and service, and will be required to support both UK locations as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Overall responsibility of the IT Department as part of senior management
  • Develop and implement department strategy in-line with company strategy and vision
  • Lead and develop the IT Department; including partaking in recruitment activities when required
  • Manage and develop the IT team; including but not limited to, organising and conducting Annual Performance Reviews and day to day management
  • Develop new and maintain existing IT relationships, particularly those within the EU Head Office IT Team and Test Bed Support Teams.
  • Managing and providing support to the existing UK IT Team in both sites for all elements of IT including telephone system, day to day user issues, printers, network connectivity, cabling, server room management and software installations
  • Responsible for ensuring that any user issues are dealt with within agreed SLA timeframes using the RemedyForce ticketing system
  • Manage all major IT incidents; ensuring effective communication to affected users in a timely manner
  • Support the Test Facility with IT related issues relating to the Test Bed machines. Any downtime of the systems must be kept to a minimum in order to meet business and customer deadlines
  • Delivery of IT projects on-time and with consideration for customer satisfaction and business impact
  • Manage any escalated IT related issues (performance issues, network, user experience etc.)
  • Support new IT activities in line with the business and operational needs
  • Liaise with users and internal departments to review any new opportunities for IT to assist the business
  • Prepare/build laptops, load required software, prepare desk environments for users
  • Oversee the door access control and CCTV systems at all locations
  • Responsible for ensuring full IT compliance and adherence to all relevant legislation, ISO standards and company policies

Key Skills:

  • Professional experience in leading and developing a team
  • Valid UK/EU Driving License
  • Willing and able to travel
  • Comprehensive network administration experience of Windows, (and some Linux), in a Windows Active Directory based environment
  • Experience with active directory/exchange user accounts/DFS Shares via FIM and AD and relevant file security permissions etc.
  • Asset Management and Software license management experience
  • Conduct client, server (ESX) and user Support
  • VMWare and Hyper-V. Basic administration knowledge of Virtual Machines
  • Firewall experience (Barracuda), VLAN experience, Switch Port Management
  • Experience of working with the RemedyForce IT ticketing system (or similar)
  • ITIL v3 Foundation
  • 1st, 2nd and some 3rd line IT Support experience
  • Networking knowledge inc TCP/IP, VLANs, IP Addressing
  • Experience of managing Windows server operating systems (Server 2008R2 & 2012R2)
  • Experience of working within an ISO27001 ISO9001 environment. (Attaining and maintaining ISO Certification).
  • Incident/Problem Management experience
  • Server room general maintenance and cabling/patching experience including replacing/upgrading hardware
  • Imaging new machines (SCCM)
  • Ordering IT Hardware and handling purchase orders whilst managing budgetary guidelines
  • Writing documents within a Quality Management System (QMS) environment
  • Project Management experience within an IT environment or a Project Management qualification
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and standards
