Location - Bristol

As an SDSR Commercial Officer you will be instrumental in the delivery of commercial and legal services in a timely manner to support the SDSR programme. Specifically this will involve the procurement and implementation of Fixed Wing and Rotary Wing contract amendments, and protection of Ascent's interests by ensuring that legal and contractual obligations are met, whilst also enforcing legal and contractual rights.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide guidance to ensure the Company's contractual and legal obligations are met
  • Enable the enforcement of the Company's contractual and legal rights
  • Enact procurement strategy including applicable documentation drafting and finalisation and bid evaluation and negotiations processes
  • Identify and manage commercial risks proactively
  • Interface with MoD and suppliers in a formal contractual capacity, including proposal submission
  • Provide guidance and consultation on commercial matters, implementing and contributing to policy and procedure

 
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Essential:
  • Core Competence (Practitioner level) including: (a) communication; (b) team working including building relationships and giving support; (c) change, innovation and adaptability; (d) investigating issues, processing details, problem solving and making decisions; (e) structuring tasks, planning and prioritising
  • 'Foundation Commercial Competence' (minimum Practitioner level) including skills, experience and knowledge of procurement law/policy, contract law, anti-bribery, trade/export controls and ITAR regulations, different types of contract models including PFI/PPP, MOD contract terms and conditions and the UKMFTS TSP contract structure and terms
  • 'Initiate/Pre-Procurement Commercial Competence' (minimum Practitioner level) including skills, experience and knowledge of market awareness, procurement strategy, pre-procurement market engagement and contract drafting
  • 'Procurement Commercial Competence' (minimum Practitioner level) including skills, experience and knowledge of managing competitions, bid evaluation and negotiation
  • ICT Competence (Practitioner level) - including experience of relevant common business ICT tools including Microsoft office and SharePoint
  • Achieved or working towards relevant Commercial professional accreditation eg MCIPS or IACCM
 
Desirable:
  • Minimum 2:2 (Hons) degree in Business, Economics, Law or other relevant subject
  • 'Sector awareness Commercial Competence' including knowledge and awareness of the Company, UK defence, aerospace/simulation industry sectors and supporting technologies including aerospace, simulation, training and infrastructure
