About the Role

Here at Babcock International we're looking to recruit a Design and Safety Process Engineer to join the Plant Management Team based within a submarine dry dock facility in Devonport.

The Plant Management Team focus on ensuring the design intent of the facility is achieved. This means understanding the mechanical, electrical and civil systems required to support the submarine refit and identify and manage actions to ensure that the design intent is met.
The Plant Management Team also own the nuclear safety requirements to manage and operate the site.

You will work with multiple stakeholders to ensure that the requirements are managed and met and you will author and control the master documentation for nuclear rules on our site investigating and implementing changes and improvements to the nuclear facilities and assets.

What do I need to do the role?

You will be educated to degree level in a STEM subject and have experience of scientific/engineering report writing. Knowledge of the working practices within a high hazard industry is desirable.

You will also be confident in using Microsoft office applications; Word, Excel and Outlook and have a questioning attitude.

Grade

This position is within the Submarines business unit as a grade 5 which has a salary of £35,460 with DRDL Terms and Conditions.

This role is based at Devonport Royal Dockyard which is located in the vibrant city of Plymouth, Devon in the south west of England. Plymouth is a city with a long and proud military history and more than its fair share of heritage. About Devonport

You will be based at Devonport Royal Dockyard in Plymouth, Devon. Working at Devonport puts the best of the South West at your fingertips. Amazing scenery, vibrant towns and numerous leisure opportunities - It's why Devon and Cornwall are such a desirable place to live and work.

Comprising of 14 dry docks, four miles of waterfront and 25 tidal berths, Devonport is the base for numerous surface vessels as well as the base and refit centre for the Trafalgar-class nuclear-powered submarines. Devonport has also recently been selected as the base port for the Navy's new Type 26 frigates and will become the maintenance centre for the future submarine programme.
