The AWE Skills Academy is looking for an Electronics/Control & Instrumentation specialist who is passionate about developing and nurturing the talents and aspirations of apprentices at the beginning of a career in engineering.

This role will be a job share and will be part time 28 hours a week.

Package - £30,680 - £40,000 (pro rata) dependent on knowledge and experience

As an Electronics and Control & Instrumentation Workplace Assessor, you will be required to design, plan, deploy and organise work-based training for apprentices during their apprenticeship programme.

Ideally, you will have knowledge and experience of working with apprentices and have familiarity with apprenticeships in England. You will be able to apply your technical knowledge and experience in Electronics and Control and Instrumentation to lead, instruct and assess apprentices during training. You will need to be a great communicator, have effective relationship management skills and the drive and creativity to help ensure that apprentices get the right opportunities at the right time to develop their skills, knowledge and competence.

We are looking for the right candidate to have:

  • National Certificate (or equivalent) in an appropriate engineering discipline (related to Electronics and Control & Instrumentation).
  • Occupationally competent in engineering principles and techniques, particularly Electronics and Control & Instrumentation
  • Proven ability in literacy and numeracy
  • Ability to inspire and lead early career employees
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, and able to appeal to a range of audiences from new apprentices to senior management.
  • Good influencing skills
  • Great organisational ability
  • Creativity and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to initiate their own work and have high personal standards
  • Proven team working skills

As part of this role you must:

  • Have the ability for working with a diverse range of people and grades across the business, particularly young people
  • Be able to access all areas of site to monitor work placements, including radiological areas
  • Be willing to attend off-site events (e.g. meetings, conferences, residential courses, etc.) which may include short periods away from home including overnight stays
  • Be willing to undertake and pass a Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check
