About the role

We currently have opportunities for experienced Mechanical Fitters to join our Fleet Technical Support team at Babcock and support our Change Delivery department.

You will work within a growing team which is responsible for planned alterations and additions on mechanical systems aboard vessels at HM Naval Base Clyde. These include hydraulic systems, high pressure systems, weapons and ship systems and bespoke modifications.

It is important that the applicants are comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces and in inclement weather conditions.

The anticipated salary for this role will be £30,256 per annum.

What do I need to do the role?

You will demonstrate previous experience in mechanical engineering roles and have proven experience of carrying out alterations and modifications to equipment, such as large mechanical systems, pumps vessels, engines i.e. Hydraulics.

Experience gained in a nuclear related maintenance environment would be an advantage.

You will hold qualification SVQ Level 3 Mechanical Engineering / completed Modern apprenticeship or equivalent.

You will also be procedures focused and adaptable to change with excellent interpersonal and team working skills.

What else do I need to know?

This role is based at HM Naval Base Clyde, located 6 miles north of Helensburgh in the West of Scotland. We are well placed for commuter links to Glasgow and the wider region, with easy access for car and public transport.

36 working hours per week from 08:05-16:45 Monday to Thursday and 8:05-12:05 Friday with opportunity for overtime during the week and on weekends.
