About the role

Here at Babcock International we are looking for a Media Development Manager to join the team at our new office at Lakeside in Portsmouth. Babcock are involved in a project for the provision of education and training services to the UAE Navy, which comprise of Naval technical and tactical training courseware. As a large project with diverse stakeholders, there is a requirement to ensure a consistently high standard across the large quantities of media being created.

Therefore, we are looking to recruit a Media Development Manager to lead the team to deliver high quality e-learning training media development services to the UAE Naval Warfare Centre (NWC) Programme, in line with company standards and contractual requirements.

You would be responsible to the Courseware Development Manager, ensuring the quality & velocity of the Media Development Team's output. You will develop and maintain media development processes and ensure they align the requirements of the contract and best practise for eLearning courseware media development. In addition, give support and guidance to the Media Development Team.

This role is pivotal in ensuring the team of 17 individuals work in an effective collaborative manner with staff and project stakeholders to continually improve the way they contribute to the business. You will assist the Courseware Development Manager in maximising people resource utilisation through effective scheduling and resource planning to ensure that operational commitments are met, that individuals are correctly trained and skilled in their roles, and that staff performance is appropriately recognised.

What do I need to do the role?

  • Proven recent experience in managing a team in a commercial environment.
  • Ideally degree level qualification or demonstrable track record of experience in a creative media or IT related discipline.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the fundamental principles of Project Management.
  • Knowledge of Quality Assurance procedures.
  • Experience in developing technology-based design solutions (e-learning, multimedia, video, animation, HTML) would be beneficial, although not essential.

What else do I need to know?

This is currently a 9 month fixed term contract until May 2020, however, potential to be extended. The salary for this position is £41,000 pro rata. You will work 37 hours per week Monday to Friday and must be able to achieve the appropriate level of Security Clearance.
