Our client is an independent, not-for-profit energy specialist that bridges the gap between industry, government, and research. They take a whole systems view of the energy sector, helping to identify and address innovation priorities and market barriers, in order to decarbonise the energy system efficiently.

A Dynamic Simulation Modeller is being sought to support their work in the development and use of dynamic simulation of energy in homes and related modelling and analysis activities. The team is expanding to meet the demands of a growing portfolio of new and exciting projects in the energy sector, and this role will focus on domestic energy modelling.

Your tasks and responsibilities will include:

Supporting the development and application of a dynamic simulation toolkit and other models across a range of projects. This includes analysis of measured data and tuning of models.
Support delivery of modelling projects and activities, working with internal colleagues and with external stakeholders.
Undertaking analysis and interpretation of modelling results to produce insights and inform solution development.
Responsible for managing own workload and working closely with colleagues and project teams including the Business Leader, Line Manager and Technical Leads to meet project commitments within agreed schedules. Report clearly and effectively to line and senior management
Deliver analysis, deliverables and outputs to high standards including adherence to quality checking and version control processes
Support understanding and use of modelling assets by others internally and externally. Ensuring resilience in its application and use. Ensure relevant modelling assets are effectively version-managed with clear supporting documentation
Provide responsive support and input to meet the needs of the team and wider business.

Qualifications / Experience

Master of Science Degree in Engineering (or equivalent) is very desirable
Experience in development and use of dynamic simulations of physical systems involving heat transfer and fluid flow.
Experience within the building performance, energy or process sectors is desirable
Working knowledge of Modelica and Excel VBA beneficial
Ability to produce high quality analysis and reports
Excellent communication skills
Able to work collaboratively with colleagues and external stakeholders
Attends and contributes positively to team meetings and workshops
Challenges constructively and communicate effectively and clearly on complex issues with a focus on the problem and outcome.
