Job Details

We are currently looking to recruit Grade 5 Digital Forensic Officers to join our Digital Forensics Team in either Bristol, London, Warrington, Tamworth or East Midlands. 

The role holder will work on a variety of high-end cases including OCG investigations, complex fraud and corruption, and child exploitation. There are also a number of posts that are designated for cyber dependent digital forensics. 

To be successful in this role you will be able to work within both an ISO-accredited laboratory environment and at scene to extract, process and analyse data stored within digital devices. You will be capable of advising Senior Investigating Officers on digital forensic strategy. 

The main responsibilities of this role will include 

• Participate in operations and investigations, carry out evidence and intelligence gathering and preservation in order to build knowledge of serious and organised crime via the use of information communications technology (ICT). 
• Conduct laboratory based forensic acquisition of items/exhibits in order to obtain optimum intelligence/evidence recovery from submissions, whilst ensuring the integrity and continuity of items by correct handling, storage and documentation. 
• Undertake on-site/scene-based digital activity and digital investigation support to NCA operations. 
• Ensure the quality, secure handling and dissemination of intelligence and evidential material, maintaining confidentiality, sensitivity and duty of care in line with Agency policy, legislation and international standards. 

Candidates will be required to demonstrate skills/experience during the recruitment process: 
• Ability to disassemble and assemble digital devices (such as computers, laptops and mobile devices). 
• Ability to analyse and interpret information from a wide range of sources. 
• Experienced in digital forensic working practices, including the ability to use digital forensic hardware and software (e.g. XWays, Nuix, XRY, UFED, AXIOM and Griffeye Analyze) competently. 
• Working to tight deadlines and work prioritisation in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

The following qualifications/skills are essential to the role and proof will be required at interview: 

• Industry recognised foundation digital forensics certification (e.g. Core Skills in Data Recovery and Analysis, Core Skills in Mobile Phone forensics, GCFE, IACIS BCFE) 
• Industry recognised advanced digital forensics and/or incident response certification (e.g. GCFA, GCIH, GREM) (cyber dependent posts) 
• ISO 17025/17020 awareness.
