The core technical focus for this role will be on the coordination of Environmental Impact Assessments, although this extends to other projects such as Integrated Impact Assessments, Strategic Environmental Assessments and Sustainability Appraisals. These all feature under the common name of EIA below. Our staff are expected to work at various stages, including optioneering, screening, scoping, assessment and follow on.
The Environment, Maritime and Resilience business provides a focus for advising clients on sustainability issues including renewable energy, low carbon economies, impacts of climate change and waste and resource management. Our environmental capabilities comprise of in excess of 1000 staff based predominantly in the UK, but with reach into the Middle East and in India.
Environmental Impact Assessment

*Working as part of the Environmental Assessment team to deliver a range of environmental projects.
*Coordinating and managing EIA projects, particularly those in the highways/rail, water, utilities and power sectors.
*Writing and reviewing environmental deliverables to a very high standard.
*Providing clients with advice and support on technical matters relating to planning, EIA and environmental management.

Communication and collaboration

*Communicating and liaising effectively with colleagues, environmental specialists, engineers, design team members, stakeholders and clients.

Problem Solving

*Thinking both creatively and logically to resolve design and development problems.

Project Management

*Helping with preparation of contract documents, proposals and work specifications.
*Financial monitoring of projects, document control, progress reporting and other project management tasks.

Business development

*Supporting business development initiatives and bids

You will have the following experience

*An excellent understanding of environmental impacts associated with major infrastructure projects is essential.
*Strong technical ability in EIA and an ability to complete high quality and robust EIAs is essential.
*Proven experience of technical review skills and ability to programme, run and complete high quality environmental assessments is essential.
*An excellent understanding of key environmental legislation, policy and issues is essential.
*Detailed technical knowledge of a discipline (e.g. ecology / water / health / equalities) is desirable but not essential
