The core technical focus for this role will be on the coordination of Environmental Impact Assessments, although this extends to other projects such as Integrated Impact Assessments, Strategic Environmental Assessments and Sustainability Appraisals. These all feature under the common name of EIA below. Our staff are expected to work at various stages, including optioneering, screening, scoping, assessment and follow on.

The Environment, Maritime and Resilience business provides a focus for advising clients on sustainability issues including renewable energy, low carbon economies, impacts of climate change and waste and resource management. Our environmental capabilities comprise of in excess of 1000 staff based predominantly in the UK, but with reach into the Middle East and in India.

Environmental Impact Assessment
*Working as part of the Environmental Assessment team to deliver a range of environmental projects.
*Provide technical expertise in the field of Environmental Assessment to lead and contribute to a wide variety of infrastructure and development projects.
*Write, check and review EIA deliverables.
*Technical direction of projects within teams.

Communication and collaboration
*Communicating and liaising effectively with colleagues, environmental specialists, engineers, design team members, stakeholders and clients.
*Taking responsibility for key communications with clients.

Problem Solving
*Thinking both creatively and logically to resolve design and development problems.
*Resolving key challenges and contributing to innovation and differentiation.
*Prepared to be flexible and contribute to other work streams.

Project Management
*Undertake project management of bespoke EIA projects, including programme, cost and resource management.
*Experience in managing multiple teams and projects with a strategic vision.

Business development
*Develop client relationships and develop new opportunities for EIA work.
*Undertake bidding work, review of bids/tenders.

Line Management
*Help to develop the wider team through mentoring and line management


You will have the following experience

*An excellent understanding of environmental impacts associated with major infrastructure projects is essential.
*Proven expertise in the field is essential.
*An excellent understanding of key environmental legislation, policy and issues is essential.
*Strong team working capabilities and an ability to be flexible and go the extra mile is essential.
*Experience in coordinating teams of multi-discipline environmental specialist is essential.
*Ability to coordinate and manage geographically dispersed teams is essential.
*Detailed technical knowledge of a discipline (e.g. ecology / water / health / equalities) is desirable but not essential
*Experience of risk management and identifying opportunities to improve resilience to risk is essential.
*Experiencing of bidding/tendering for internal and external opportunities and strong commercial awareness is essential.
*Ability to influence project decision-makers, engineers and regulators to arrive at sustainable solutions is essential.
*Proven Project Management experience is essential including programme, cost and resource management.
