About this role
Here at Babcock Clyde we currently have an opportunity for an experienced Operations Manager to join our Nuclear Operations department at Babcock, in the role of Waterfront Jetty Manager.
The role holder will be responsible for coordinating and controlling operations and maintenance within jetty areas at HM Naval Base Clyde.
Specific responsibilities will include identifying and organising resources required to berth and support vessels and ensuring that activities are carried out in accordance with operating procedures and Health & Safety legislation. Additionally, the role holder will represent the Facility Manager at Nuclear Safety and other meetings and will fulfil the role of on-call Berthing Officer, assuming the duties of the Facility Manager in his absence.
This role operates across a 7 day rotating daytime shift pattern with a mandatory on-call requirement.
The anticipated salary for this role will be between £35231 - £42567 per annum depending on experience. The role also attracts a 20% Shift Disturbance Allowance.
What do I need to do this role?
We are looking for applications from candidates who can demonstrate previous supervisory experience gained in highly regulated engineering or other operational environments. Experience of working within a marine engineering environment or at a Nuclear Authorised site would be advantageous. Key areas of competency we require are as follows:
  • HNC in an Engineering discipline (or equivalent qualification) is desirable, but not essential
  • Previous experience of managing customer relationships and delivering contracted requirements
  • Capable decision maker, with well-developed organisational skills
  • Effective relationship building and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient user of MS Office suite of software

Security
Successful candidates will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements and may be required to complete a medical assessment.
The role will be in an environment regulated by Trade Control legislation and involve working with controlled goods, technology and/or services. This may require you to meet enhanced security and regular screening checks.
Description of Location
This role is based at HMNB Clyde, located at Faslane, 6 miles north of Helensburgh in the West of Scotland. We are well placed for commuter links to Glasgow and the wider region, with easy access for car and public transport.
