The Defence Science and Technology Laboratory are seeking a Senior Knowledge and Data Systems Design and Delivery Coordinator to join them at Dstl Porton Down, Salisbury.

Team: Ministry of Defence|Defence Science and Technology Laboratory|Chemical Biological Radiological

Initial contracts will run until 31/07/2021 and offer a rate up to £529/day.

IR35 STATUS: Inside IR35. This engagement has been assessed by the public body as Inside IR35 legislation. Candidates would be required to operate through an umbrella company on this engagement.

This role requires Active SC (Security Check) clearance. Applicants require active SC clearance or the willingness to go through clearance before starting on site. Candidates with current clearance will be preferred.

The Role and Main Responsibilities

CBR Division is the UK's centre of excellence for CBR and Medical Sciences, S&T within Government. To deliver high-impact S&T, this department generates a wide range of knowledge and content such as, but not limited to: models databases, vignettes, modelling outputs, data sheets, reports and presentations.

This resource is critical in terms of business resilience. If the department do not tackle their knowledge management issues, they run the risk of decreased efficiency and increased duplication or inconsistencies in the provision of critical advice.

Dstl are therefore seeking a Senior Knowledge and Data Systems Design and Delivery Coordinator to assess how Dstl manage and control their CBR knowledge and align knowledge management across CBR Division with the corporate vision. The postholder will also work with the Knowledge Partner to design, develop and deliver a sustainable, searchable, efficient, fit for purpose Knowledge and Content Management capability which increases efficiency and decreases the chance of duplication or inconsistencies in the provision of advice, while upholding agreed-upon security standards, safeguarding security and confidentiality standards and supports exploitation. The successful candidate will be responsible for training up members of Dstl staff to be fully conversant with the new Knowledge and Content Management capability.

Skills and Experience

  • Must have extensive overall, relevant experience
  • A degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) subject or equivalent experience.
  • The experience and desire to understand and address colleague’s information and knowledge management and exploitation needs whilst meeting the needs and requirements of all stakeholders
  • The ability to communicate clearly with a diverse range of people at all levels of seniority and experience, describing the measurable impact of the work
  • The skills to organise and prioritise their workload in order to deliver work to deadlines
  • Strong IT skills, including substantial experience of using Microsoft Office packages
  • Practitioner experience of SQL or no-SQl database technologies
  • Practitioner experience of data wrangling, data structures and Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) of heterogenous data sources
  • Statistical experience to support completeness, certainty and confidence of information that is persisted for future assessments.

Candidate Eligibility

Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK, this role will not offer Visa sponsorship. Tier 2 – General visas are cannot be accepted. This role requires that candidates be willing to undergo BPSS (DS) Baseline Personnel Security Standard (with a Disclosure Scotland).
