Central Engineering Team Assistant Project Manager

About the role
Here at Babcock International we're looking to recruit a Central Engineering Team Assistant Project Manager.
The Central Engineering Team (CET) is a team of engineers and analysts who provide specialist engineering disciplines for all company products and project teams within Babcock DST. Predominantly the team produce stress analysis documentation and support on product non-conformance. You would be working alongside the Team Manager to support delivery across multiple projects, providing good exposure to many key stakeholders across the business.

What do I need to do the role?
You will be project reporting including ETC Forecast reporting to project teams on current work packages. Ensuring reports are accurate, timely and presented in a professional and appropriate format.

Would also like you to have experience in all or some of these areas:

  • Cost control - Securing and agreeing budgets with other project areas, controlling budgets through proactive management and feedback to team, plus forecasting and use of Earned Value Management (EVM). Previous knowledge on EVM is not essential and handover can be provided on established EVM tools.
  • Support Team Manager in bi-weekly stand-ups with team members on work in the week ahead.
  • Change control - ability to identify changes to scope, cost and schedule baselines and liaise with internal customers to approve in line with change control processes.
  • Priority management and ability to negotiate priorities with stakeholders.
  • Schedule management - through the use of MS Project and Excel based reporting tools
  • Resource capacity planning - through effective management of current work packages and stakeholder engagement to identify future packages of work.

Lastly, you'll need to look at future growth of the team into other business sectors, supporting business winning activities including proposal development and supporting documentation.
