About the role
Here at Babcock International we are looking to recruit a Head of Finance to join our Marine division.
Babcock is an expert in the design, manufacture and through-life support of high-integrity mechanical and electrical systems and equipment. Our products can be found on both submarines and surface ships, and range from weapon handling and external launchers to remote communications system and life raft deployment equipment, high integrity pumps and integrated waste management systems
Reporting to the Finance Director, and acting as a key member of the finance leadership team, you will be responsible for the direction and oversight all of the project financial activities, including the preparation of current financial reports and forecasts for future business growth.

Your key deliverables will include:

• Financial management of all project and contract activities within the Business stream. Production of project reports for all business activities
• Production of project budgets, forecasts and strategic plan reports including agreement with the management team
• Project cash management and forecasting
• Support the Finance Director in the preparation of budgets, management accounts and financial reports.
• Provide strategic input to the Finance Director & Programme Director, with particular focus upon the long term financial trends and prospects for future growth of income.
• Provide all necessary inputs and commentary to the preparation and regular review of the Business Plan and assist in monitoring performance.
• Ensure sufficient, timely, accurate and meaningful information on the range of project financial activities is available to the Finance Director & Programme Director.
• Support the financial input to bids and tenders.
• Lead the development of the Programmes project finance team including the active management of a succession plan.

What do I need to do the role?

We would like you to have experience in all or some of these areas:

• Qualified accountant - ACCA / ACA / CIMA or equivalent
• Proven experience in commercial finance leadership position(s)
• Experience in the Defence, Engineering or Manufacturing sectors is highly desirable
• Long-term contract accounting experience is highly desirable
• Strong stakeholder management skills up to Director level
