About the role

Here at Babcock International we're looking to recruit eight Multi Skilled Operatives to join our Marine Engineering and Engineering Support teams within our Fleet Engineering department.

This is a varied and physical role carrying out a broad range of activities related to the support and provision of services to Nuclear and non-Nuclear warships at HM Naval Base Clyde. Specific responsibilities will include slinging, rigging, operating specialist crane apparatus, driving forklift vehicles and carrying out general manual labour tasks in support of Technicians who are carrying out maintenance activities.

This is a great opportunity to become part of a growing team which can be challenging but fulfilling and the potential progression into specialist roles.

The anticipated salary for this role will be £20,893 per annum.

What do I need to do the role?

We are looking for candidates who are able to demonstrate previous experience of working in semi-skilled labouring roles, ideally gained in an engineering or marine environment. Experience in the maintenance of electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems and plant and knowledge of the equipment used in support of such activities would be advantageous. Experience of driving forklift vehicles, working at height or in confined spaces is also desirable.

You will be committed and have the passion, desire and ability to learn and gain qualifications.

You will have great communication skills, as you will be engaging with people of varied levels from both Navy and Civilian personnel.

You will be able to withstand harsh environments, comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces and be capable of thinking on your feet in order to problem solve and work within a team.

Full driving license is required.

What else do I need to know?

This role is based at HM Naval Base Clyde, located 6 miles north of Helensburgh in the West of Scotland. We are well placed for commuter links to Glasgow and the wider region, with easy access for car and public transport.
