About the role
Here at Babcock International we're looking to recruit Electrical Fitters to join our team at Babcock Marine Clyde.
You will undertake Electrical fitting activities (diagnostics, fault finding, maintenance, installation, repairs) on systems and equipment on RN vessels (submarines and surface ships).
You will be responsible for carrying out large and small maintenance packages, working down on the submarines in confided spaces and on panels carrying out fault finding, aligning and running cables, electrical repairs, electrical fault finding AC and DC moto theory (advantage) and electronic systems, motor generator preventative and active maintenance including electrical alterations upgrades and improvements.
You will ensure that work is carried out in line with current processes in accordance with set objectives and timescales. You will work within all H&S legislation, Safe Systems of Work and control of work processes within BM&T Clyde policies.
This is an exciting opportunity to advance your knowledge and broaden you experience working on a wide variety of different systems, equipment and vessels with the opportunity to also work abroad.

What do I need to do the role?

You will hold a recognised Electrical Apprenticeship or equivalent.

You will have Marine engineering or industrial electrical experience, a background with submarine or surface ships would be advantageous.

You will also be able to understand and read drawings and have the ability to think on your feet and problem solve with a high attention to detail and fault finding.

You will be a proactive individual, relatively autonomous, and follow/work to instructions and set procedures whilst demonstrating excellent team working and interpersonal skills.

What else do I need to know?

This role is based at HM Naval Base Clyde, located 6 miles north of Helensburgh in the West of Scotland. We are well placed for commuter links to Glasgow and the wider region, with easy access for car and public transport.

This role requires day shifts totalling 36 hours with a half day finish on Fridays.
