About the role

Here at Babcock International we're looking to recruit a Marine Engineering Slinger to provide slinging, fleeting and support for the Fleet Engineering teams and undertake the movement of plant and equipment as required, on and off surface ships and submarines and fleeting within combined spaces.

You will work on a number of different tasks on a daily basis and you can be involved in basic to complex tasking taking several days or weeks to complete.

This is an exciting, challenging opportunity within diverse working conditions with advancement prospects for a solutions driven individual.

What do I need to do the role?

You must be educated to NVQ Level 2 Slinger / Banksman qualified and hold a Nationally Recognised Slinging Card (NPORS/CPCS)

You will have Slinging, Rigging and Fleeting experience within a Fleet Operations environment or from an Engineering/Construction background.

You will also have knowledge of Fleet Engineering activities and equipment e.g. scaffolding, Fork Lift Truck operations, as well as manual handling experience.

Lastly but not least, you will show initiative and be a team player who is equally at ease working alone along with the ability to interpret work instructions and perform the work on time to quality of standards expected.

What else do I need to know?

This role is based at HM Naval Base Clyde, located 6 miles north of Helensburgh in the West of Scotland. We are well placed for commuter links to Glasgow and the wider region, with easy access for car and public transport.

This role includes the requirement to work overtime at short notice and may include support to RN vessels abroad.
