About the role
Here at Babcock International we're looking to recruit a HEMS Pilot.
We have an exciting opportunity to join Babcock Onshore, a leading provider of mission-critical helicopter services to the air ambulance, police and offshore sectors. Babcock Onshore provides world-class operations to our customers helping them to save lives and protect communities every day.
Our fleet of 32 helicopters from bases across England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland has been providing dedicated air ambulance support for more than 20 years and our police helicopters have been supporting UK communities for almost a decade. We constantly invest in new aircraft, equipment and training to ensure the consistent capability to deliver safe, dependable operational excellence at all times.
Headquartered in Staverton, Gloucestershire, Babcock Onshore is a leading provider of aviation services for mission-critical operations across ten countries. We are part of Babcock International Group, a global provider of critical asset, infrastructure and training support to many sectors including emergency services, energy and defence.
We currently operate on 24 hour operations in support of both the Scottish Ambulance Service utilizing the H145 and Police Scotland with the EC135 T3. The role offers varied, challenging and interesting flying throughout Scotland, by both day and under NVIS approval at night. The position requires you to reside within 45 minutes / 25 miles of BOTH Glasgow Airport and Govan Police Base or make arrangements for accommodation at your own expense.
What do I need to do the role?
You'll need to hold an EASA ATPL (H) or CPL(H) with IR
Would also like you to have experience in all or some of these areas:
Either :
  • 1000 hours pilot in command of aircraft of which 500 hours is pilot in command on twin turbine helicopters; or
  • 1000 hours as co-pilot in HEMS/ Police operations of which 500 hours is as pilot in command under supervision and 100 hours pilot in command of twin turbine helicopters.
  • 2000 hours minimum total helicopter experience.
  • 500 hours operating experience in twin turbine helicopters in an operational environment similar to the intended operation.
  • 20 hours VFR at night as pilot in command.
  • Fluent English, Driving License, Passport, Right to Work in the UK.
What else do I need to know?
Candidates would also ideally:
  • Be qualified and instrument rated on both the EC135 and EC145.
  • Current or recent HEMS experience.
  • Have experience of NVIS operations.
  • Have experience of Police operations
Please Note: Security vetting for Police Scotland requires that every applicant be a resident of the UK for the last three years.
