Cyber Security Engineer - Contract - Gloucestershire - £400 - £500 per day - DV Cleared

As a Technical Cyber Security Engineer you will provide expertise and consultancy in the technical security arena. This will include hardware & software configuration, hardening, testing, vulnerability identification and supporting remediation delivery and planning. There is an immediate requirement for an appropriate skilled professional to deploy, configure and provide system hardening to a McAfee SIEM Solution. You will additionally be required to provide consultancy and reporting back to key stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities for a Cyber Security Engineer:

  • Deploying, configuring and hardening McAfee SIEM appliances and systems in accordance with defined policy, security and business requirements
  • Software & hardware vulnerability testing - you will be expected to identify, test and remediate vulnerabilities within both hardware and software
  • Stakeholder management - You will provide testing reports and presentations to key stakeholders, including senior managers, on technical security/vulnerability assessments at both a technical and non-technical level
  • Proactive skill development and knowledge transfer - As part of this role you will be expected to knowledge transfer to the other members of the team

Skills / Experience:

  • Holds information security professional qualification which is recognised within UK Government e.g. CCP Security Architect or CISSP
  • Must have SIEM technical end-to-end experience, specifically configuring, maintaining and hardening. Desirable for the candidate to have industry experience in the McAfee SIEM Solution
  • Network and application vulnerability assessment, and security testing experience
  • Windows and Linux OS vulnerability assessment and security testing experience
  • Experience of vulnerability assessment testing tools such as Wireshark, Nessus, etc
  • Firewall/Gateway/Network boundary assessment experience for multiple vendors, such as: Cisco, Juniper, Microsoft, etc
  • Architecture Design interpretation to exploitation strategy skills
  • Good stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work and communicate clearly with individuals of varying technical abilities
