Purpose:
The Sales Director leads and directs the Sales and Marketing function within a business unit or group of businesses. Ensures short and long term military sales forecasts are executed in accordance with company strategic objective. Designs, develops and implements marketing programs and/or pricing strategies to support the organisations products, services or market sector.
Responsibilities:
Creates the business plan and sales strategy designed to grow the segment/sector through new products, applications, and clients
Identifies new business opportunities and has the ability to translate customer requirements into proposals that are priced to win and meets company financial guidelines.
Creates proposals in accordance with company bid & proposal management process and authority matrix of approvals
Leads and provides support and guidance to the wider business team in the execution of the above programs
Directs the organisation in the creation of “world class” proposals reflective of the applicable sector/region strategy in accordance with company bid and proposal management processes and authority matrix of approvals. More specifically the role leads the proposal strategy and development of the business case and works in conjunction with the Commercial team in contract negotiations by defining the pricing provisions and jointly working to establish and negotiate the principle commercial terms which will govern the contract.
Defines orders and sales targets for the sector/region within agreed expenditures as defined through the budget and forecasting process
Analyses strengths, weaknesses and opportunities relative to competitors and develops strategic counter-plans
Works with Group to develop and create communication strategies and content to announce programs, and launch and position products and services within the sector/region
Leads and directs other work for the team as defined by business needs and advocates for the customer during internal reviews
Key skills and experience required:
Post-Secondary Degree in Sales & Marketing or MBA, or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectation
Experience and a sound understanding of UK, US ITAR and EAR export compliance regulations for military and dual use products, services and technical data
Applies broad industry knowledge and commercial awareness to drive financial and operational performance across sub-functions
Able to execute functional business plans and contribute to the development of functional strategy
Capable of directing the resolution of highly complex or unusual business problems, while applying advanced analytical thought and judgement
Ability to initiate and develop key relationships and interfaces
Superior interpersonal, written and oral communication skills with the ability to negotiate and influence, while exercising sensitivity to the audience
Demonstrate a high level of ethical behaviour in exercising judgement and discretion in matters of significance
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites, Salesforce.com and database management tools
