About the role
Here at Babcock International we're looking to recruit a PMO Lead.
Babcock operates a significant outsourced contract for the provision of education and training services to the Royal Navy. The training services comprise of Naval technical and tactical training and education, delivered by Babcock instructors as well as training support (e.g. training planning, equipment support, routine maintenance and training design). The contract is entering an exciting new phase with renewed focus on training innovation, optimisation and collaborative working and this role will provide the structure and drive to achieve successful delivery of identified aspects of the contract in this new phase. Reporting to the Governance Manager, you will lead and manage the PMO service that will support the execution of projects within the business.
You will work with the Service delivery owners and key stakeholders to facilitate the approval and delivery of projects as prioritised by the FOAP(T) Senior Leadership Team . Ensure that the PMO service support is provided to all approved projects . Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility. Identify level of resource required to both support and deliver each project. Develop and manage project support documentation for all approved live projects. This will include: PIDs, Business Cases, Risk Logs, Communication plans and Project Closure documentation. Develop and maintain a detailed Project Plan to monitor and track progress of approved live projects. Capture and report changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs. Measure and assess project performance using appropriate tools and techniques. Advise on risk management and risk mitigation options in order to minimise project risks. Support project closure through the tracking of project success of projects, benefit realisation and the capturing of lessons identified in conjunction with the Project Lead. Link lessons learnt into the CI process and other change mechanisms within the Contract . Line management activities for the PMO Specialist and PMO Business Partner. Contribute proactively against the business improvement agenda
What do I need to do the role?
You'll need previous experience of Project Management either Prince2 Practitioner or APMP qualified and an adequate knowledge of and compliance with the Health and Safety policy and regulations consistent with their responsibilities
Would also like you to have experience in all or some of these areas:
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with project team members, clients and superiors at all levels and in all areas of management
  • Good commercial awareness and an understanding of contract and commercial management
  • Experience of Project and Risk Analysis and Management techniques
  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft Project, Word and Excel.
What else do I need to know?
  • Location: The main place of work will be HMS Collingwood with responsibilities for other sites. The role requires a high degree of flexibility; with a requirement for regular travel between sites within the UK.
  • Must possess (or be able to obtain) SC level security clearance
