We have some exciting opportunities for Support Engineers, Application Support Analyst's, Helpdesk and Service Desk Analyst’s at varying levels who are looking to join our Space, Defence & Intelligence business unit. We need junior, mid-level, senior and lead Engineers, based in multiple locations, working for a range of clients and at different security levels.

Whatever your current level of experience, the technical breadth of our programmes offers the ability to extend and deepen your skill set, where training is delivered through a combination of mentoring, on-line and classroom based courses via our technical partners.

Our roles are only available if you hold or fulfil the criteria to obtain a UK Security Clearance (Solely British National).

Your future duties and responsibilities:

Depending on your area of expertise:

App Support

• Incident response to ensure availability of operational services
• Pro-actively maintain and improve the performance of systems
• Support of either a Windows or Linux System environment patching applications through scripting
• Identification and resolution of performance anomalies and system defects.
• Carry out routine system administrative tasks such as patching.

IT Support

• Logging and responding to tickets in the IT Service Management system
• Support of either a Windows or Linux System environment patching applications through scripting
• Participating in the Service Desk Mailbox Rota
• Configuration, deployment and support of end user hardware (laptops, desktops, Blackberry handsets printers etc)
• Creation and management of new users accounts
• Deployment of software applications to client machines
• Maintenance and creation of technical documentation as required
• Managing the sites backup regime
• Maintaining site inventory equipment and asset registry
• Network patching and hardware moves

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

Essential Skills:

App Support :-

• Proven track record of working as a Linux and/or Windows System Administrator
• Strong familiarity with tools such as the ATLASSIAN suite, SSH, CMD or Powershell
• Able to write scripts using Python, Bash, DOS or powershell
• Root cause analysis and debugging to aid in resolution of functional and performance related defects
• Networking familiarity – e.g. Can describe HTTP protocol, TCP/IP etc
• A passion for learning new technologies and innovation

Desktop / Service Support :-

• Previous experience in a support / Service Desk environment
• Windows 7 / Windows 10 support or support of an opensource platform
• Understanding of Active Directory administration
• Microsoft Office 2010 (strong knowledge of Outlook 2010 preferred)
• Familiarity with Remedy (or similar) IT Service Management system

Desirable Skills:

• Scripting - SQL, Python, Bash, DOS, Powershell
• Databases - Oracle, MySQL, Postgres
• Web applications - Apache Tomcat and Microsoft IIS
• Working knowledge of Hadoop or distributed computation
• Working knowledge of automation/configuration management (i.e. Ansible)
• Understanding of email security products (e.g. Fortimail, Clearswift Secure Email Gateway)
• NTFS permissions
• Scripting skills SSH, CMD or Powershell
• Python, Bash or DOS
• Print server / printer hardware knowledge
• Experience of Microsoft Server 2012
• ITIL awareness
• Demonstrable analytical and consulting experience working across a broad range of military, civil government and commercial organisations

Our projects are based in a CGI office or client site but may require travel to other locations.

The successful candidate must be able to spend time working away from home, if required.
