Database Specialist

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are actively seeking a highly personable and technically astute Database Specialist. The ideal person for this role will have experience providing third level support within NATO, the MoD, civil service, the wider armed forces or a defence organisation. You will be responsible for various tasks related to technical support. This work is located in Mons, Belgium and will suit those either already living there or willing to work within that location unencumbered. Sound like a great fit?

THE ROLE

Your daily role responsibilities will be as follows:

• responsible for the second and third level support of Microsoft SQL Server databases that are deployed in support of NATO’s Resolute Support Mission Intelligence Systems.
• hands-on work developing and executing complex SQL scripts to migrate data with SQL.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Passionate about this opportunity? Here are the basic qualifications we are looking for:

• A degree or equivalent work experience in related field
• Knowledge of relational database management systems
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2016 in configuring and optimising high availability clusters and resolving performance issues
• Experience in writing and debugging complex SQL Server scripts.
• Experience in creating and debugging SQL Server views, functions and stored procedures
• Experience in dynamic SQL queries to script updates against multiple similar tables
• Experience in designing and developing database maintenance plans.
• Experience working in an ITIL environment
• Experience fixing routine network and operating system issues
• Experience in developing PowerShell scripts to automate bulk data operations
• Ability to obtain and maintain a NATO Secret Security Clearance

DESIREABLE QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience with message oriented middleware
• Experience working with XML and JSON data formats, data transformations with XSLT, XPATH
• Experience with C#
• Experience with GIT Source control repositories
• Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS)
