MY telecoms client is looking for a Designer to work in their Platform Design team for an initial 6 month contract with the potential of a long term extension.
This team focuses on particular products and technical disciplines, the team is more generalised and need consultancy skills to liaise with internal application development teams in order to design and provision datacentre platforms on which their application code will run.
The designer will need a reasonable level of understanding and experience of a wide range of datacentre infrastructure skills, such as, but not limited to:-
*Storage subsystems using FCoE/iSCSI/FC
*Cisco UCS Servers
*Ethernet LANs and WANs
*Cisco Nexus routers and switches
*Oracle RDBMS - including replication technologies such as Dataguard
*Microsoft SQL Server - including replication technologies such as always on and SQL Mirroring
*Network Load Balancers
*VMware vSphere v6.*
*Oracle/Redhat Linux v6 and above
*Windows Server 2012+
*Citrix XenApp
*Firewalling (L2/L3)
*Veritas clustering tools (Infoscale/VCS)
We don't expect for the candidate to be an expert in all of these…but they should have enough experience of datacentre infrastructure (5-10 years?) so that they know what all these terms mean and how they are used in datacentres.
Other requirements would be MS Office skills such as Excel and Word. And the ability to produce design diagrams using Visio.
