Mechanical Engineer- Conveyors

About the role
Here at Babcock we are recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer to work as a part of the UK Airport project team generating functional solutions to client's baggage handling systems. You will handle requirements and prepare high quality accurate engineering documentation.

What do I need to do the role?

We are looking for Mechanical Engineers with experience of working with conveyor systems. You will have knowledge of AutoCAD 2D and Autodesk 3D Inventor or Solid works.
You will have experience of working with project teams and have the ability to produce high quality accurate engineering drawings, including; system layouts, design schemes.

Responsibilities include;

• Ensure that the client's requirements are correctly translated into a functional solution meeting technical, statutory and health and safety requirements
• Fully understand, take ownership and deliver the scope of work that is being assigned within
  the budget and time that is allocated to tasks, and in accordance with the company's quality
  management requirements.
• Identify all risks associated with the planned activities and immediately advise the lead
  engineer of any issues that could impact the project
• Liaise with all necessary interfaces (e.g. other project team members) to ensure that all
  required information for the task has been received and to immediately highlight any
  deficiencies.
• Provide accurate progress reports including estimates to complete on a regular basis.
• Oversee the generation of complex conveyor layouts (showing basic level of detail) at
  feasibility/concept design stage.
• Oversee the development of the selected concept layout with increased level of detail taking
  into account building constraints, maintenance access, 3rd Party interfaces.
• Oversee the generation of manufacturing and installation drawings as followed:
  • Conveyor line arrangement drawings and parts list.
  • Maintenance platforming, crossovers, lifting beams.
  • "Machine" level details and sub-assemblies in support of our ongoing development of
  standard baggage system products.
