Here at Cavendish Nuclear we're looking for an experienced Senior EC&I (Electronic) Engineer to join our Leicester office and work within the Reactor Protection Systems section, this is a department that serves a single business area - namely EDF Energy Nuclear Generation Ltd.
Role Summary
The applicant should be able to demonstrate recent experience including having personally (as opposed to managing others) carried out one or more of the following types of work:

Experience Requirements
You will have demonstrable experience post degree qualification covering a range of engineering and/or technical topics including design, analysis, specification, safety case support, installation, commissioning, and supervision of staff/contractors. This would ideally be covering a variety of tasks or projects across a range of complexities. A nuclear industry background or other safety or regulated industry is preferred.

Role Summary
The applicant should be able to demonstrate recent experience including having personally (as opposed to managing others) carried out one or more of the following types of work:
- Electronic circuit design using transistors, op amps, integrated circuits with associated calculations
- Design a control system for a nuclear (or other safety related type of application) which includes the requirement for separate protection channels
- Application of BS EN 61508 for hardware systems
- Circuit analysis and simulation at component level
- FMEA and reliability calculations
- EMC testing of electronic circuits, chassis or cubicles
- Cable sizing calculations
- Fuse size determination for cable protection and ensuring discrimination
- Earth conductor size calculations
- Relay logic circuit design for plant control
- Cubicle layout design - cable segregation, ergonomics/human factors
- Cubicle heat rise calculations
Role Responsibilities
The work involves the electronic, electrical, control and instrumentation engineering associated with reactor protection systems and will cover all aspects of the engineering process including:
- Verification of RPE design documentation
- Engineering support for tenders and bids
- Optioneering and concept design
- Risk analysis
- Design requirements capture and design substantiation in safety applications
- Detailed electronic design work (transistor and op-amp level) using traditional analogue components
- Technical report and specification writing
- Test specification for module and factory testing
- O&M Manual authoring
- Failure Modes and Effects Analysis and reliability calculations
- Diversity Analysis
- Detailed design and manufacturing support,
- Works testing and site commissioning
Role Qualifications & Requirements
Academic Requirements
- Engineering or Science degree (electronics preferred)
- Corporate member of one or more relevant professional institutions (ideally the IET)
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer or Scientist. Note that some science institutes may work to different "professional accreditation" model
