Job Details

Due to team growth, we currently require a HR Manager to lead the HR team across all areas of our HR & Recruitment functions. The HR Manager maintains and enhances the organisation's human resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and human resources policies, programs, and practices. They also have responsibility for achieving staffing objectives by recruiting and evaluating job candidates; advising managers and managing the Chess student placement programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions.
  • Maintain organisation staff by establishing a recruiting, testing, and interviewing program; mentoring managers on candidate selection; conducting and analysing exit interviews; recommending changes.
  • Maintain employee benefits programs and informs employees of benefits by studying and assessing benefit needs and trends; recommending benefit programs to management; directing the processing of benefit claims; obtaining and evaluating benefit contract bids; awarding benefit contracts; designing and conducting educational programs on benefit programs.
  • Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource legal requirements; conducting investigations; maintaining records; representing the organisation at hearings.
  • Maintain management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures.
  • Maintain historical human resource records in accordance with the Chess document retention policy.
  • Ensure GDPR Compliance.
  • Establish recruiting requirements by studying organisation plans and objectives; meeting with managers to discuss needs.
  • Arrange management interviews by coordinating schedules.
  • Evaluate applicants by discussing job requirements and applicant qualifications with managers; interviewing applicants on consistent set of qualifications.
  • Improve organisation attractiveness by recommending new policies and practices; monitoring job offers and compensation practices; emphasizing benefits and perks.
  • Manage student placement programs by conducting orientations; scheduling rotations and assignments; monitoring student job contributions; advising managers on training and mentoring.
  • Avoid legal challenges by understanding current legislation; enforcing regulations with managers; recommending new procedures; conducting training.
  • Provide corporate reporting and documentation as requested.
  • Supervise Receptionist/Office administrator in performing their tasks where practicable.

The Successful Applicant:

  • Several years’ previous experience within a HR and Recruitment managerial role is essential, ideally within the engineering or technical sector.
  • You must possess the highest level of professionalism, integrity and confidentially
  • Excellent communication skills, able to work with people at all levels.
  • A team-orientated approach and the ability to build effective working relationships
  • Excellent attention to detail is essential with a proactive attitude
  • Will be required to obtain security clearance

This role is based in Horsham, West Sussex with some travel to our sites in Plymouth and Wokingham.
