We design and manufacture one-of-a-kind satellites and need a range of bespoke software tools. We are looking for an IT Service Owner to join the team and to support the software developers to create new tools for Engineers to create the satellites and to assess current and future software needs.

This role will suit someone from such industries as Telecoms, Communications, Electronics, Engineering etc. - who are interested in progressing into the Telecoms and Satellite industry. IM is transforming and evolving, but we need even more talented people who can make a real difference to how we support, enable and deliver a diverse range of technological solutions and services to our customers.

You will be part of a team that is responsible for delivery of the development tools to support all Software Engineering activity across the Airbus Defence and Space business.

You will work closely with business Software Engineering teams to identify and define new business requirements and plan the delivery of enhanced services to the business.

Other responsibilities will include Service Ownership for a number of services running on the IT systems in the UK that provide development capabilities to software engineers.

This role will come with European travel a couple of times a year ??? Work alongside the team of Service Owners for Software Engineering applications on service road maps, on service continuity, obsolescence, improvement, and innovation subjects.

??? Coordination with other IM teams with respect to service provision, needs and demands of assets, software products and licenses.

??? Work with the service providers on improvements and evolutions of services, including running small enhancement projects when needed.

??? Service Ownership of services providing tools to support software engineering within the business.

??? Provide models and frameworks for qualification test scenarios used in acceptance campaigns with respect to the delivered solutions.

??? Communicate and work with business subject matter experts and Software Engineering software vendors / editors.

??? Formulate and analyse specifications / descriptions of work for functional enhancements and validate and compare proposals.

??? Coordinate troubleshooting activities in case of service complaints

??? Recommend mitigations to reduce obsolescence

??? Management and monitoring of software licences

Now the techie stuff - we're looking for someone who has:

Understanding of ONE of the following:

Servers, networks, applications or databases

??? The ability to produce clear technical documentation.

??? Understanding IT issues from the business perspective.

??? Some familiarity with Software Engineering

??? Some IT administration skills, for example with Windows or Linux hosted solutions, or Databases.

You will be working in an up-to-date environment with SQL, Docker and Atlassian tool suite any experience is of interest but is NOT essential as training will be provided.
