Specific Responsibilities
The role of Calibration Engineer at the Environmental Test Centre is essential to trials delivery and ensures that test engineers can completed contracted works within defined project timescales. The main responsibilities of the role are as follows:
Ensure the calibration database (SMIS) is maintained and monthly call-forward requests
are produced.
Maintain the internal calibration waiver system and control issue/receipt of items requiring calibration.
Ensure all test equipment is calibrated in line with the ETC quality manual.
Carry out internal calibration of test equipment including environmental chambers.
Produce calibration certificates to UKAS standard.
Carry out internal UKAS audits and produce reports.
Ensuring personal and personnel safety and compliance with HS&E requirements
Knowledge, skills and Personal Qualities Required
Challenges
There are a large volume of items to be calibrated and managed within the facility so attention to detail and the ability to manage a busy workload are key to success. Keeping on top of the paperwork and database admin is a critical challenge in this role to ensure management reports are correct.
Behavioural Requirements
A process driven logical thinker with a positive can do attitude. The Calibration Engineer must have a keen eye for detail and be able to work with large amounts of data.
Essential Qualifications
5 GSCE grades A-C
Must be a confident IT user as a large part of the role is desk based using applications such as SAP, Excel, Outlook and Word.
Desirable Qualifications
ONC or similar level of education in an engineering discipline.
