Location: Bristol- with Remote working

About the role
We are recruiting for a Lead Software Engineer to work within the Marine Unit of Babcock International on Defence Systems projects. This role is Bristol based, however this can be based working remotely with travel to the office as and when required.
As the Lead Software Engineer you will manage a team of Software Engineers and organise their workload. You will have good working knowledge with Enterprise Java and worked in an Agile environment.

- Requirements gathering through Stakeholder engagement;
- Software/ system analysis
- Full-stack software architecture and design
- Test driven development
- Build and release management
- Development environment management
- Technical authoring for bids and other documentation
- Prototyping
- Performing software releases, updates and deployment activities
- Identifying/triaging/tracking defects and proposing solutions
- Leading the teams work capabilities
- Requirement analysis
What do I need to do the role?
Skills and Experience:
- An understanding of both agile and more traditional development methodologies such as waterfall;
- A minimum of experience in using: Enterprise Java, Spring MVC, Hibernate, Relational databases, RESTful web-services, Web-development frameworks
- Experience of leading a team of Software Engineers.
- Experience of a UI framework such as Angular, React or Vue.js
- Experience of UX design desirable.
- Exhibit excellent communication skills both oral and written.
- Ability to work autonomously and use initiative.
- Willingness to learn new skills.
Qualifications:
- HNC/HND or Degree in Computer Science (or similar relevant qualification)
- Candidates without this qualification will be considered, if they can demonstrate considerable relevant experience within an equivalent role
