About the Role
Here at Babcock we are looking to recruit a Buyer to join our Supply Chain function working within Defence Systems Technology (DST), a business unit within our Marine Sector, at our offices in Ashton, Bristol.

As a Buyer within the Design and Build Team you'll be working on a range of exciting design, manufacture and support projects, together with a number of key international and domestic clients. You'll carry out procurement tasks for project team, supporting all aspects of the project programme or any other programmes as directed.

What do I need to do the role?
You'll need to be studying towards, or willing to study for the MCIPS qualification. Manufacturing and/or engineering experience with machining/fabrication/estimating is highly desirable, as well as Marine Defence experience. A full UK driving licence is also essential for this position.

We would also like you to have all or some of the following:
  • Previous experience gained in a similar role.
  • The ability to read engineering drawings.
  • Understand and challenge design for manufacture.
  • Experience and knowledge of forging and casting process.
  • Proficient IT skills, in particular Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

Lastly, a confident, self-motivated and flexible approach to workload are essential for this position, as well as the ability to establish strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

What else do I need to know?
  • We offer a competitive salary and benefits commensurate to the role.
  • The position is based in Bristol however travel to other sites is required from time to time.
  • Candidates must hold or be eligible to apply for SC Security Clearance.
